Guest Speaker – Alice van Bekkum

“A Tribute to Canadian Liberators –  The Faces to Graves Project“

Here is your opportunity to learn about the Faces to Graves Project from one of its Founders – Alice van Bekkum.  Located in the Netherlands, Ms. van Bekkum has gathered together a Network of those who have contributed to the life stories of the soldiers of the allied forces buried in Groesbeek to join her during this virtual presentation, to provide some of the stories and insights they have gained along the way.  This is going to be a truly unique opportunity to learn more about this Project and its impact.

Alice van Bekkum is the Chair, initiator and one of the founders of the Faces to Graves Foundation; a nonprofit organization for the Groesbeek Canadian War Cemetery. Their motto is “we keep the memory alive by telling their stories”.

From a first initial effort to learn more about one Canadian buried at Groesbeek and to find his family to finally writing his life story, Alice has demonstrated an outstanding commitment to ensuring that “we will remember them”.
