Despite the excellent sea-keeping qualities of the ship and her successful sea trials, the program was abruptly cancelled in 1971 and laid up for five years. She was saved from the scrapyard when she was donated to the Musée Maritime du Québec at L’Islet-sur-Mer, Quebec where she remains today.
